Photo Food Diary

As I mentioned in the "What's for dinner, Mom?" post I decided to "show" you (yep, I'm from the show-me-state) what I eat each day.

The reason for this is:
1. To help my Mom.
2. To help you.
3. To help me too!
A lot of times I forget to record my food and I know that could make a big impact on my weight-loss. Therefore, since I have other's depending on me for a little help...well I feel held accountable.

That being said if you take a moment to look at the top part of my blog you will see it now says: Home, Fashion, Food, and Fitness. I assume y'all know how to click a button, so just click on Food and you will see and probably read a little about what I've had to eat each day. I do encourage you to leave me comments, ask questions, and let's just all learn from each other.

I don't know a lot about food, except that I need it to function. I started viewing food as fuel - not an enemy. That change of mindset has done wonders for me. I know I need "this" to have the energy for "that" or I need "this" to recover from "that" - not, "Oh, I'm so stressed I need chocolate!" or in my case it would have been a Pepsi. No, no, no! More like, "Man, that work out was tough I need to eat to refuel and repair my muscles". Then comes the question of "What am I gonna eat?" Burger King, Taco Bell, or Pizza Hut or better yet maybe Charlies...

.

haha - had you going uh?

Heck no, I'm not eating there after working out. I'd probably puke. I usually get a shake from the Snack bar at the gym. One that I really like is called "Lift Me Up" - the only thing I don't like is it's price. $5.50 for a shake! They are becoming a rare treat since David is home from deployment and the extra cash flow isn't there. See, I do try to be a good girl.

I do wish I knew how to make it and how many calories were in it. I do know that it does have the following ingredients:
  • peanut butter
  • milk (skim I think)
  • banana
  • chocolate protein powder
  • and a very small amount of chocolate syrup
It's really good - even though my husband didn't think so. It hides the 'banana' very well. If there is one thing food-wise you should know about me - I HATE banana's. They're squishy, and smelly, and gross! I don't like to touch them, smell them or taste them. I force myself to hide them in my own smoothies. They are just one food I don't dig.

Other times after a workout I might have water and an apple. It varies depending on my mood and how hungry I am at that moment. When I asked my trainer once he suggest to eat 1/2 a turkey sandwich before training and the other after - so sometimes I do that because I can pack it with me and save some $$$!

All I know is I need the proper fuel and that comes in the form of food. Trust me, food is not your enemy. Try to look at it like that and see if it helps you any in your journey.

One thing you might require if you don't have one is a blender and honey, make sure you buy a GOOD one. Don't ask me what a good one is cause mine sucks. I hate the thing. I needed a blender so I bought what was cheap and I thought would work...it works - it just takes a lot of babying along the way.

I have no real recommendations of a blender. I know a lot of people talk about the Vitamix and really love it. I'm sure I would too and I bet it would not need me to baby it. However, if I were to tell my husband I wanted a $400 blender...I'd probably be a widow. So I think I'll pass...maybe someday when I'm rich and famous or after my "make-over" I'll start saving my change for it. Who knows. All I can tell you is DO NOT BUY THIS:
Hamilton Beach

I swear each button does the EXACT same thing! If you want creamy and smooth - you better find something different.

Now then, I have so far photographed my breakfast & my lunch...I'll be getting to the snack and dinner later. However, just to make sure the page is working correctly I have uploaded breakfast and lunch to it. So hop on over, have a look, and check back later to see what's for dinner. :)
