The other day a friend of mine wrote a small little piece on Encouragement. One little piece of that really stood out to me and it goes like this:
If you’re thinking about someone today, let them know…
Write a card and send it.
Call.
Text.
Plan a time to get together.
Write a card and send it.
Call.
Text.
Plan a time to get together.
That got me thinking...how is it I encourage people and this is what I've come up with.
- I write this blog.
- I document my food - so you can get an idea of how un-perfect my diet is.
- I share pictures.
- I have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and email.
- If I see a Facebook post that I really like I 'share' it. Sometimes I simply click the 'like' button to let you know I saw it. Other times, I 'comment' even though I'm not sure what I'm saying matters much. I do try to let you know I'm there.
- Twitter - I forget about it a lot - and need to improve.
- Instagram - probably hates all my pictures, but I have fun with it and I assume somewhere out there someone in smiling.
- Email - used rarely these days do to Facebook. I can contact most anyone via Facebook. However, once in a while a good email is required.
- Write letters - just like every once in a while a good old fashioned letter does the trick.
- If I read your blog - I leave a comment. Yes, I know you can see how many times the page/post has been viewed, but I leave a comment to let you know that you have an audience. That yes, I did read it.
- I do my best to listen to others and lend a helping hand where I can.
- I pray.
- I'll harass you about something if I know you are serious about doing it and wanting it. Sometimes people just need that little nudge.
- I try my best to be positive - I do not want to be the reason someone is having a 'down' day.
- Yet, I do not sugar-coat things. If you don't want the truth don't ask me.
So what am I getting at? Well, you know how sometimes you just have a really great Facebook status and you can not wait to see the replies that come after it? You sit there and refresh your computer a time or two, then the comments come and you just laugh and laugh. Or you post it, go to bed and wake up to what? Comments that make you laugh. Right?
Blogs work the same way! Sometimes I write something and I think, "Oh, I'll get a comment on that for sure." Then the next time I log on, I see yes, my post has been viewed 7 times but there are zero comments. That my friend is discouraging. I know, this writing thing is a solo deal, but sometimes its really nice to know what someone thought - even if you tell me my writing stinks. I hope you don't, but you get the point.
So here's the deal I want to make with you today.
- If you stop by my blog today - leave a comment. Tell me Hello and leave me the link to your blog if you have one.
- Then I will stop by your blog and leave you a comment as well. If you don't have a blog - know that you made me smile with your comment.
- If you find my blog particularly awesome - share it, facebook it, tweet it...whatever!
- If I love your blog - I will totally do the exact same!
- Leave me the link to one of your favorite blogs and tell me why it is a fav!
- Whenever you stop by someones blog (any one's) leave a comment - your mark, stamp, footprint or whatever you want to call it, so they know you visited.
Why do I want to make this deal with you?
Because due to ALL the social networking out there I think those of us over here in blog-land get a little forgotten about. I don't want you to feel discouraged or forgotten. It's as simple as that.
Now, that's not wrong is it?
I've already shared a blog with you at the beginning of this post, but there is one other I will share with you today that I'm enjoying reading and that is HungryRunnerGirl.
That's all I have for today. I'm off to get some sort of workout in.
Go get yours and I'll see ya on the flip side!

Hmm, this reminds me of that verse. Ya know, that one that goes something like....
"Encourage one another and build each other up."
I know I've said it before, but I enjoy feeling connected to you through 'written word.' I appreciate what you write--it's real and real is easy to relate to!

Just a quick note to say, "I appreciate you and all the time you put into your blog". Keep up the good thoughts. Thank you for being there for so many of us that have a hard time letting you know on a regular basis that we are here for you.
Again, thanks! Www.chelratee.blogspot.com
I love reading your blog. Keep writing, it is appreciated even if people often times forget to tell you! Becky
