I don't know about you, but I am wondering...am I the only one with secret gym goals? I mean, I know we all set out with certain goals in mind and some more specific than others. However, in the last year I've realized I have a few goals that are just 'secret'. I think the only person that really even knows of my 'secret' goals is possibly my husband. I don't want to disappoint you with this post, so I'll just flat out tell you now - "NO, I do not plan on sharing them." They are a secret and it is not a lie for me to have a secret, especially when its about myself & my gym goals. :)
I'm honestly, just curious if I'm the only one that has some hidden goals. Something that you hope doesn't happen to you, something that if it did would totally embarrass you, mortify you, make you feel like a sissy or an idiot...you name it - a hidden goal that you pray never happens. I know completely different from the other goals you are setting right? Because lets face it, if you go into the gym with a goal of losing 20 lbs then you actually want it to happen right? A secret or hidden goal, is that ONE thing you don't want to happen to you at the gym.
What got me thinking about all this...something I read about goals plus a silly blog post I read this week. Check it out, HERE.
Let me give you an example & I don't mind sharing this one because well as much as I pray it never happens I do have to take a few things into consideration...
1. I love spicy food!
2. I am gassy by nature.
3. I hold the title in the family for 'clearing a room' or car or bathroom in Scotland.
4. My daughter fears for her life if I eat boiled eggs.
5. My husband prays he's deployed or doing some volunteer activity if I'm eating chili.
6. My son...makes sure everyone in the house knows I 'stink'.
7. I've heard from my mother more times than I can count, "What crawled up in you and died!"
Figure it out yet? Yep, that's right...I do not want to fart. In the locker room - okay fine. In HIIT class (sorry ladies) - I could live through it with possibly a slight red face but you wouldn't know if I were embarrassed or just working out. In front of my trainer - NO! NO! NO! That is the ONE I fear. If I've had something spicy before a session it really makes me nervous. I would be so embarrassed!
So you get where I'm going with this? Hidden goals - do I plan on telling my trainer that I pray I never fart in front of him? Uh, no. Does he read my blog - I've no idea - so he may get the info anyway, but would I just flat out tell him this info - NO.
Sometimes certain things are just 'personal'. I'm not really one to talk on that much as I'm a pretty open individual, but believe it or not I do have a few things that I feel are 'personal' and I choose not to share them. I don't think that is a bad thing as a matter fact keeping that 'secret' goal accomplished, gives me that little something extra to be proud of.
Yeah, you can walk away from a hard training session or a class feeling very accomplished, but say you've a little secret goal and you managed to hang on to it...wouldn't that bring a smile to your face? It does mine and the longer I hang on to it the more I feel like a little kid with a hidden piece of candy in her pocket. It's like, "I got a secret and its still ALL mine." Crazy logic, uh?
Secret goals?
Got them?
Keeping them?
Are the pushing you forward or holding you back?
What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you at the gym?
Secret goals are great as long as they are not holding you back. So dig in and keep moving...even if you accidentally fart.
