iPod Challenged

I've a short funny story for you today. Last month I was trying to convince my best friend Jenny to come see me. The hardest part of convincing her was getting her to allow me to pay for it.
A flight from the US to the UK is not cheap. Well, suppose it could have been if not for taxes and fees! Otherwise $279 - not bad uh? Yeah...if EVER booking an international flight make sure you check that it says 'taxes & fees' included. Either way I still got her ticket cheaper than the one purchased for my Mom and my husband's Mom.

How people get tickets for under $500 TOTAL I've no idea but wish I did. It's so much nicer to fly someone here to visit verses flying all of us home to visit - and honestly it's cheaper to fly 1 person verses 4.

It took a good bit of convincing on both Jenny and her husband Bill - who I am now in debt to for allowing her to come. Anyway, at first she was coming and then they had second thoughts and she wasn’t coming and then I got this phone message that says:

Hey Tonya, give me a call when you get home,

umm I don’t care what time it is,

just if you’d call me I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks

In the background you can hear her little girl Kaylee fussing like she’s hungry. At the beginning of the message she sounds real excited and then her voice changes – trying to hide her exciting news I think…the rotten woman. J

Anyway, we have internet phone here so that we can call family/friends state-side. Crazy thing is we even have an Ohio phone number. It’s weird, but it works – well most the time. You know how the internet can be. Whenever we are not home if a message is left it goes to my email where to listen to it I have to open it and play it in windows media player – gives a whole new meaning to “check the answering machine”. You don’t even get the ‘beep’ sound or the flashing red light!

Sometime after this I was putting some songs on my iPod – well, trying to. I have a rather interesting mix of songs on there, especially for a country girl! Of course there is country on there, always will be…and too much to list. There are few Christian selections, Casting Crowns, Third Day, Super Chick, Francesca Battistelli and Jenny’s fav Toby Mac

And then there are a few not so ‘good girl’…oh no, no. There is some old stuff, Poison, Def Leppard and Guns n Roses. Then there is some stuff like Usher, Kelly Clarkson, Kid Rock, Jason Derulo and the Coyote Ugly soundtrack…there is even a little Ice Cube on there (clean version mind you – on ALL – “F” word don’t fly with me, sorry). I love that movie Save The Last Dance and the song on one of the big dance scenes is “You Can Do It” by Ice Cube.

I like a variety of songs to say the least. Something with a “sexy” vibe, a good beat, something that will make you think, focus, press forward a little more…I find the ‘sexier’ the song the more I push because I want to feel sexy and the only way I know to do that is to take care of me. That requires eating right & working out hard.

Sometimes I have to just shake my head at my music selections for working out…haha However; I was REALLY shaking my head not too long ago. Here I was working out, well warming up on the Row Machine and the song playing was Poison’s Talk Dirty to Me…right after that I hear my best friend’s voice saying,

Hey Tonya, give me a call when you get home,

umm I don’t care what time it is,

just if you’d call me I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks

It took all I had not to just bust a gut laughing! People in that gym would have thought I was so mental!! But if they knew Jenny!!! I can’t even imagine her listening to some of the stuff on my iPod!!! I’m sure she knows the song I’m speaking of but I doubt it would be a selection of hers. And thank heavens I was on the row machine verses treadmill – I might of fallen off and that would have been beyond embarrassing.

Now, I can’t make myself delete the silly message because I know the reason she is calling is to tell me that she can come for a visit and because well, now it just makes me smile…and still stifle a laugh here and there, depending on what song comes before it.

The crazy thing is I have NO idea how her voice message ended up on my iPod!!! I’m so very challenged when it comes to this thing.

Has anything like these ever happened to you? Please tell me I’m not the only one who is iPod challenged!

If this little story didn’t make you laugh, I hope you find something today that does – it’s good for you! Have a great day!

That has happened to me!! It was with an internet phone and all the messages went into itunes. I was forever missing calls. I finally had to leave a message on the phone asking people to e-mail me. Ha.

Also one time I was making a recording for school and was playing around with another teacher about how it would work to make a podcast. We ended up doing this crazy "cooking show". About 2 months later my husband was talking about it and I asked how it the world he knew anything about it. Turns out I had accidentally loaded it on HIS ipod! ;-) I was so embarrassed.

It is not safe in my itunes.
